A general update from S.Isl trip

Dear all

I hope you guys are missing me a bit during my presence
A few things happened a few things ago had just sent me on a roller coaster ride.

First, Joe/Hayden lost their badminton matches at Bersatu Games. They are no doubt my star players since they persisted going to Bersatu in spite of many obstacles. if i needed a knight, they would be those in shining armours and charming horses. Nevertheless, they didnt win medals, but they are still frigging awesome. Salute! Bang Bang Bang.

Apart from that, i am feeling a bit sorry for them since they went on the trip by themselves, had a bad start when pacific blue from dunedin-wellington was delayed. In spite of all, they managed to hop onto the next flight with Air NZ and got there on time. But alas, though they were good, i guess some people were blessed with either better talents or just were lucky+skills. They lost to UMNO and didnt get into semis. Adding salt to the wound, they probably felt super embarassed at the bersatu dinners, which somehow... was supposed to be a participant compulsory thing, but managed to turn into a venue filled with only-winners-with-medals attendees. Sorry if i have put u in that situation. U guys are awesome, no matter what happened.


Secondly, I had a pretty swell time with Denise over at her new house. and playing with her pup truffles and her brother's (ronald)'s beagle (Louie). Louie as a beagle, is crazily active and practically WALKED all over me. He kept provoke Truffles and they ended up running in circles. I thought Beagle is somehow a pretty dumb dog, i dont know how normal beagles ended up to be a drug dogs (those sniffing for drugs in airports!). Well, its still cute. haha.

Thirdly, i was surprised by msw and he caught me talking to random people instead of welcoming him with a big BANNER. I am sorry that i didnt do that, i was preoccupied by people's love story, having her bf hauling all the way from London just to be with her and such ad such. No doubt, i was thrilled to see msw in southern hemisphere, i was actually quite excited to share whatever shit i know about nz. He said he felt like he was going to Antartica when he flew across the Southern Alps. Its amazing i tell u, i was passing by Timaru yesterday on a bus, the Alps was illuminating! It was practically sparkling under the glaring sun. yes. weather in Canterbury was super best best. Do u realize Dunedin already had like.. near consistent bad/cloudy/gloomy/miserable/depressing weather for the past mth? I nearly cried LORD (with tears of joy) when i was woken from slumber by sun streaming through the windows (on the bus).

Forthly, Its quite cool seeing how msw is adapting in nz. Haha He's still shocked by the 'COLD'. Right. its not NY tho, we dont get blanket of snow or like, frozen lakes where we can skate on. It is still inevitably cold due to the chilly wind, which i call POLAR WINDS, which is the strongest and influential to the world climatic system especially during this time of the year.

Fifthly, Msw can buy. Even in NZ. OK. I bought much too. Cannot resist. I finally knew how pathetic shopping is in dunedin compared to christchurch. I have left Chch for 5 years, and being engrossed in studies (yah, love my study) had left me no time to stroll around leisurely and actualy do shopping here. Furthermore, i now. come up only when i needed to, such as transiting back to Singapore, then Brunei.

Sixthly, Msw was super tired on 1st day. He went straight into LALA land. I dont blame him. After the long haul flight of near 11 hours, jet lagged and being dragged around City Centre.. Ricc Mall and Dress Smart. I would have floored instantly.

Since internet is super expensive. I actually typed this post pre-internet time. Doh. 2 dollar for 15min. halleluya. We went to Akaroa yesterday, since weather was super incredible. We had so many editorial shots. HAHAHAH

Sigh, I hope good weather lasts.
I cant believe i am away from library!
Btw, fyi, i was in Christchurch central library the other day. So nostalgic. its one of my rendezvous

Fyi, Fen and Queenie only arrives 10pm last night. Had supper. and i paid 7.30 for an extra large pearl milk tea. Oh well. suck it in. Driving to queenstown later. Hope i can last long!

Love! weather

The best thing in this world
is having good weather!

I laid in front of cathedral square yesterday,
ipod was blasting music, the sun was glaring but so gentle on my skin, i felt so alive yesterday. being in christchurch yesterday made me realized how much i missed better weather. Everything good jus got amplified 1000times.

Piercing

Was checking weather forecast for the next few days, especially for Friday since we be driving from chch-Queenstown. Surprisingly, as overcast taking over Dunedin sky horizon, it doesnt seem to have the coldest weather. I think i can believe in the theory how clouds trap heat and such. Queenstown wud be below freezing point, which is not a surprise since its surrounded by higher mountains and at a higher sea level. denser air cannot escape.

thats why u always would thought dunedin would be colder.
Thanks to our 'strategic' location.

I am more worried of lindis pass to be closed when i drive to Queenstown.
If that happen, sigh. what wud i do?

Btw, i gona bring more jackets with me up to chch, so that fen wud have extra layers. As for msw, we go shopping in chch. Depends on how cold u feel when ur in chch. But i think the magic of tolerating cold, wear more layers. Meh, don worry much. NZ isnt as cold as UK anyway.

Amidst everything,
I am glad that i am giving myself 11 days off.

Bumming with denise a wee bit in chch, before msw touches down in christchurch, followed by fen and queenie. Yes. I am happy that they are coming in just a couple of days more.

although my blog does sound very depressing and possibly sadistic most of the time.. It is just me. Was with nadiah a while ago, for a quick McD.. food makes me happy and chit chats too. Lots would see that i m disinterested in studying this year.. maybe i am. so sick.
however, i enjoy the process, i just complain too much. that shud relate to my 2nd half year resolution, zip. prepare myself for the world and embrace whatever chances/challenges presented upon me.

Yes. few more days before getting away from the tedious little things that fuck my mind over and over again.

Btw, seems like 2/8 of my intended interviewees agreed to talk to me. Woots.

chronically ill, sales flu

Was hungry, and being my usual self
Cooking is just like a no-option, yes. then walked in the rain (drizzling-non-stop sort), took a long stride over puddles, dodging the piercing cold winds, i reached BURGER KING. Dont tel me about how fattening it is, and how it would jus completely jeopardize my healthy diet plan and such. So, with a resolute attitude, i bought and happily munched away. Well. now i somehow regretted havin too much coke.

So, its reasonable to take a walk around town after a hearty meal right? So, went into shops that have sales pasted across all their display windows. and completely gutted when i saw 2 skirts i bought previously from glassons/supre were on sales. Yes 50% off. Geez. I HATE SALES when the sales is on things that i have purchased in full! ARGHHHH. Then a shirt of flora-fauna caught my eyes, MY SHIRT! 50% off. Ok. I officially cud jus want to dig a hole, and bury myself in it. Cos, i was wearing the exact same one in Supre shop. Geez.

Today surprisingly is a rather relaxed day, probably because i have just handed in my ethics.
I am a wee bit behind schedule like usual.
and i am super embarassed when my supervisor, doug emailed and emphasized on thanking me for being 'punctual'. Right, i will suck it in. Cos i hadnt been punctual for the past 2 things! Nah, i wont get marked down, so thats why i wasnt punctual. Feel extremely bad because i used to be rather punctual anyway. I have time management issue and very odd sleeping hours.

Ask ah choi and msw. they know. I tend to wanting to stay awake by chatting randomly on msn while doing work.


What to do? when i have a camera in hand.

Now to proof read 535 Lit and send emails to different stakeholders for late Jul interviews (see, i was supposed to it before i leave but i have to push it off for now)

Reading mr msw blog post makes me burn with jealousy
Yes. i cannot deny NZ has some fancy food as well, cuisine that i could hardly get in msia, singapore and Brunei. But being a kampung girl (yes, laugh all u want) i do miss everything about Brunei. Although at times i feel so super annoyed that i cant call myself Bruneian due to the citizen status i have. Yes, i am still proud to be a malaysian. Yah speaking from someone who never lived in Malaysia. Reason why: After staying in NZ, especially Dunedin for the past 5 years, believe me. I have met some bombastically nice and superb malaysian frenz. Although i would say, some of them have been here since young and practically a diluted msian nowadys. Still. Root is still Malaysia.

Oh. Brunei =) I lub u.

Urm, so let me rake my brain. Haha No. I dont even have many friends left in Brunei. Fuelled by their thirst to see more out there, many arent going back in the next couple of years. Who am i to judge, i dont c myself being back there too. Maybe i will. Or maybe i wont.

Neway, last night etrusco with Nadiah was Yummy. Never had so much creammmyy stuff for so long. Cuban Royale at pequeno like usual, still bazoonkaa (nadiah's word) good! and Coke and Rum is rummy enough to send me to sleep and sound.

Coke never fails. No they dont. Thats why i m sipping now as well.

Oh. In case u wonder, i m not having holiday. none for masters student i pressume. However, library is like in lock-down anyway. They are upgrading student servers and aside from that, they close at 5pm. Me and Tasha were somehow 'rejected' when we got there at 11am. Reason: Student servers are down and nothing else we can do especially when one of my important file is in the student desktop. Nevertheless, we ranted and walked away.. to new world, sun basking really altho the weather is still a bit too chilly for pizza at the gardens

Oh. how i miss eating pizza by the gardens!
I am a physical geographer after all. I miss eating kfc by the gardens too! Yosh!

Till then. Back to study i say.
9-10days before i leave dunedin on 8th July 0745 bus to Christchurch. where i will chill with denise for the night before welcoming mr msw with open arms at the airport on 9th July and Fen on 10th July. Need to finish 535 stuff as much as i can. Methodology, Case Study and also, Results section. Sadly, my other buddy from buddy system is snowboarding at wanaka. Shit. But i had a happy talk with Dunedin city councillor about my interviews. So, in a way, i m on track but just fairly far behind. Need to pick up some speed and dash for the finish line!

I havent seen her for 1.5 years since graduation dec 2007

fyi Jane Lee is a good friend to Pc. We did play a wee bit of volleyball together and hung out once in a while. At the same time, we dont belong to the same social group so we didnt actually see each other very often throughout the 3 years when she was here.

Glad to see her again. Fellow Brunei Bred Malaysian (BBM). Nice to speak the brunei rojak chinese too. which i rarely does when i m here in nz except while speaking over the fone with fellow brunei ppl. Anyway.. had a hearty lunch at Jitsu. before i had to scoot off the get bersatu games tee printed and fees paid. I am still behind my research progress and i am shocked to realize i havent been back to my office for a week. I m missing the planners a bit already. i will go back next week

OMG. Well. i confess. I was rather indifferent when i knew it anywy. I can see the blogosphere and facebook air filled with ambivalence, mixture of mournful, mockery and such. I know he's a flagrant offender in molesting and such. Well, he's king of pops. Just that pop shifted faster, trend comes and go. He made an impact. Tell me, how many of u guys are not well informed of his crazy stunts? The baby over the balcony or his achievements with pop songs and dance move-moon walk. Although, i dont believe u died of cardiac arrest. Like i mentioned in my fb status, ur nose must have fell off and caused respiratory difficulties.
